ErrorXRechnung business rule (KoSIT)

Official message

[BR-DE-9] Das Element "Buyer post code" (BT-53) muss übermittelt werden.

Source: KoSIT XRechnung, version 3.0.2 (Schematron 2.6.0)

How to fix it

Add the post code to the buyer's address: in UBL cbc:PostalZone under cac:AccountingCustomerParty/cac:Party/cac:PostalAddress, in CII ram:PostcodeCode in the PostalTradeAddress of the BuyerTradeParty. The value is text; leading zeros are kept.

Before – invalid
<cac:PostalAddress>
  <cbc:StreetName>Domstraße 8</cbc:StreetName>
  <cbc:CityName>Erfurt</cbc:CityName>
  <cac:Country><cbc:IdentificationCode>DE</cbc:IdentificationCode></cac:Country>
</cac:PostalAddress>
After – corrected
<cac:PostalAddress>
  <cbc:StreetName>Domstraße 8</cbc:StreetName>
  <cbc:CityName>Erfurt</cbc:CityName>
  <cbc:PostalZone>99084</cbc:PostalZone>
  <cac:Country><cbc:IdentificationCode>DE</cbc:IdentificationCode></cac:Country>
</cac:PostalAddress>

What the message means

The invoice recipient's address contains no post code. XRechnung treats the buyer's address like the seller's: street, city, post code and country must be present so that the invoice names the recipient without doubt. Often the post code sits in the city field of the customer master data and is lost on export. Correct the master record, otherwise the error returns with every further invoice to the same customer.

Common causes

  • Post code and city share one field in the customer master data.
  • The buyer's address was entered by hand and the post code forgotten.
  • An interface transfers the post code for domestic customers only.

Frequently asked

What about a customer abroad without a post code?

Enter the code usual there; where none exists, the value the country's postal service uses for delivery.

Does the rule check that the post code matches the city?

No. BR-DE-9 only requires the field to be filled. Whether post code and city belong together is checked by no validator.

Fields concerned

  • BT-53
  • BG-8
