Privacy policy

This policy describes which personal data is processed when you visit klarfakt.eu, for what purpose and on what legal basis.

In brief

  • Invoices and tool input stay in your browser, without transmission or automatic saving. Tools load no Google services, ads or audience measurement.
  • Language and appearance are remembered locally. Consent choices may also be stored. Optional measurement cookies require your explicit consent.
  • On the home, guide and country pages, Google is contacted to show its consent window. Ad requests are paused before your choice. Google Analytics stays off until you allow it separately.
  • Our tools send no validation summary, file, file name, search or form input to Google.
  • Fonts are hosted locally. The third-party services described below concern only eligible content pages.
  • There are no user accounts or newsletters. The invoice form works locally.

Google consent and advertising

We use services from Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, to manage advertising choices and display ads on the home, guide and country pages. Tools, the tool directory, error pages, contact and legal pages do not load these services.

Google’s consent window can contact Google before your choice: your IP address, browser information and visited page are needed for their operation. Existing Google cookies may be read. Ad requests stay paused until explicit consent. Refusing never blocks content. We request only non-personalized ads. The advertising SDK loads only after consent and near the ad placement.

Consent management serves to respect your choices and meet our obligations (GDPR Article 6(1)(c) and (f)). Optional advertising storage and ad delivery after acceptance rely on consent (Article 6(1)(a)). Partner and purpose details are available in Google’s window.

Optional Google Analytics measurement

Google Analytics 4 is off by default, including after advertising is accepted. You can allow it separately in the footer preferences. It starts only when this choice and Google’s official signal permit storage. No Analytics library or measurement signal is sent beforehand.

After consent, we measure page views using a URL without query parameters or fragments, a public page title and a browser identifier. The IP address is technically transmitted to the service. We send no searches, form input, invoices or file names. Enhanced measurement, Google Signals, user-provided data, granular device and location data, and GA4 advertising personalization are disabled.

The legal basis is your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). The _ga cookies are configured for 30 days without automatic renewal. GA4 event and user data retention is set to two months, without resetting on new activity.

Storage, withdrawal and transfers

Your Analytics choice is stored locally for up to 180 days under klarfakt.analytics-choice.v2. Google’s CMP stores its choice for the durations in its information. A local technical value communicates withdrawals between tabs; it contains no invoice or user identifier.

The Privacy and cookies footer link lets you disable Analytics immediately and reopen Google advertising choices. Withdrawal does not reload your invoice. From a tool, the link opens the home page in a new tab. Clearing site data in your browser also removes preferences. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing.

Google may process data outside the EEA, including in the United States, using the safeguards described in its data protection terms. Cookie and transfer information: Google privacy and Google cookies.

Validation tools: your data is not transmitted

Validation runs entirely in your browser. When you open a tool, your browser loads the program files and the official rule sets from our server. The file or input you check is not sent: it never leaves your device and we do not store it.

Program files, fonts and validation rules are served from the website domain. The tools send neither your document, its name nor its contents.

Hosting on Cloudflare Pages

The static website is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare Pages. Invoice files remain on your device. Requests needed to display the website transmit your IP address, requested URL and technical browser information to Cloudflare.

Delivery via Cloudflare

All requests to this website pass through the network of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Cloudflare provides the encrypted connection (HTTPS), serves files from a cache and protects the website against attacks. In doing so, Cloudflare processes your IP address, the requested address, the technical details of your request (such as the user agent) and the time. Because your invoices never leave your browser, they reach neither Cloudflare nor our server.

Cloudflare processes the data as our processor under a contract pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. According to Cloudflare, it also processes data for certain purposes of its own, in particular the security of its network, as an independent controller. Details and retention periods are given in Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Data may be transferred to the USA in the process. For the USA there is an adequacy decision of the European Commission (EU-US Data Privacy Framework, Implementing Decision (EU) 2023/1795), under which Cloudflare is certified. Should the certification lapse, the contract with Cloudflare provides for the European Commission's standard contractual clauses (Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/914); a copy is available on request.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is fast delivery protected against attacks. Cloudflare features that set cookies or insert scripts into the pages are switched off for this website.

Anonymous usage statistics of the tools

The former server’s validation-results collector is disabled in this release. No validation-statistics request is sent. Cloudflare delivery and security data are described below.

Language choice in your browser

When you pick a language in the language switch or dismiss the language hint on the English home page, your browser remembers that choice in local storage under the key “klarfakt.lang”. The value stays on your device; it is not transmitted to us or to anyone else and it is not a cookie.

On your next visit to the home page your browser itself moves to the chosen language; our server never redirects by language. Without a stored choice, the English home page may suggest another available language based on your browser settings. You delete the choice through your browser’s site data.

Your appearance choice is stored under “klarfakt.theme”, only on this device and never transmitted. System mode removes this preference and follows your device theme.

Contact by email

If you email us, we process your address and your message to answer your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). We delete this data once it is no longer needed for that purpose, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

For contact or privacy enquiries, use the company’s public address: [email protected]. Do not send invoices or sensitive data by email.

Your rights

  • Access to the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • Rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)

An informal message to [email protected] is sufficient. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the member state of your habitual residence, place of work or place of the alleged infringement (Art. 77 GDPR).

Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR)

For processing based on legitimate interests, you may object on grounds relating to your particular situation. For processing based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time in the preferences. Contact: [email protected].
